Log house constuction technology

JSC “Rąstinukai Jums” – the place, where the original wooden products are born.

The solutions of wooden structures, developed over the past several decades change the traditions of wooden architecture that were sophisticated over the generations, as the timber for new constructional solutions is technologically investigated and limits of constructional material is expanded; in many ways it can be equated to concrete structures.

Timber for the new solutions is technologically explored!

  • Wood types – pine, spruce.
  • Humidity – the water content does not exceed 20%. Logging and drying lasts up to two months, and only then it is used to built log construction.
  • The most commonly used (beams / boards) diameter for building of wooden cottages is rom 30 mm to 90 mm.
  • The most commonly used lumber diameter for wooden houses is from 100 mm to 260 mm.
The walls of log house are mounted of timbers installed in crowns. The timber is joint one on the other by poses and the corners of the crown by notches

Before carrying the log construction to the construction site, we rig a block house at the production place according to the drawings, mark and number the logs, dismantle and prepare for transportation to the customer’s specified location. This reduces the cost of construction work .

Wide variety of shaped roof, such as: pitched, hipped, and terrace can be implemented.

No matter how well the wood is dried, log house still sits for a few centimeters, the roof slope angle changes about a couple of degrees, so the rafters are fixed with the slippers. The cover of log building construction does not differ from any other roof constructions. Wide variety of shaped roof, such as: pitched, hipped, and terrace can be implemented.

Applying alternative design solutions for single family wooden house by the essential requirement “Mechanical resistance and stability” it was obtained that both new and conventional wooden structure solutions in Lithuania can can replace the existing brick and reinforced concrete solutions, as their load-bearing capacity is sufficient.
